Mistletoe

Mistletoe

Mistletoes are a semi-parasitic group of plants that are very important habitat for many local birds and insects. For those of us keen to see more small birds in our gardens, mistletoes would be a welcome addition. Professor Ecology at Charles Sturt University, David Watson, has been researching parasitic plants for many years and has literally written the book on them. David has also provided advice to the City of Melbourne on how to spread mistletoe seeds into plane trees to improve their habitat value.
