A Feminist's Guide to Botany: Emily Carr and ink!

A Feminist's Guide to Botany: Emily Carr and ink!

Drawing class dedicated to the life and work of the Emily Carr; a Canadian Artist and Writer whose work and travels engrossed her in the wilds of the Pacific Northwest, and the architecture and art practices of the Indigenous Peoples of the Northwest Pacific Coast. Carr also studied in Paris at a time when colour was being revolutionised in western painting, and was inspired by some of the greatest names of the time; Matisse, Derrain, and the Impressionists.
This session will explore Carr’s life, work and the shifting perceptions of her complex legacy through a short lecture, then students will be guided through a series of Carr inspired exercises in Pen and Ink! Tutor Luisa will be offering some hints, tricks and useful techniques that will explore both sides of the medium.

Time: 18:30 GMT
