Tending to Reciprocity: Caring for plants and people
Collaboration with plants and nature can be transformative for us and our environment. There is increasing evidence that anxiety and depression go up as we go away from the green and into the grey of our increasingly concrete environment. This talk will explore aspects of healing connected with working with plants and communities. Looking at care on an individual level, for a small seedling, and for communities and cities.
Martha Orbach has worked with Glasgow Botanic Gardens, UNESCO RILA, and alongside Mary Raphaely, created the therapeutic gardening programme for survivors of torture and organised violence at Room to Heal. The RHS described work at Culpeper Community Garden as “social and therapeutic horticulture at its best.”
