Beyond Extraction
Filmed in Climate House, renowned artists Christine Borland and Annalee Davis talk about the similarities in their artistic investigations. Motivated by their interest in how knowledge is formed, and the existence of dominant narratives at the expense others, their work often investigates received and ancestral knowledge – with both artists frequently working to make invisible, often discredited practices and narratives accessible. Recently, both Annalee and Christine have explored rituals and relationships with land. This had shed light on, and offers alternate ways, we can care for our environments – and through this conversation leads them to reflect on what a new ethics of care for land could be.
