Unforgettable Gardens - Sissinghurst and the Delos Garden
Sissinghurst, created by writers Vita Sackville-West and Harold Nicolson beginning in the 1930s, and now owned by the National Trust, is held dear in the hearts of millions of garden aficionados as the quintessential model of a romantic 20th century English country garden. In his lecture, Head Gardener Troy Scott Smith will talk about his work at Sissinghurst, and the reimagining of Delos, Vita and Harold’s forgotten garden. This half-acre garden was a failed attempt by Vita and Harold in the 1930s to recreate what they had seen on the central Cyclades Island of Delos. Gardens Trust talk.
