21st-Century Interventions in the Monumental Landscape

21st-Century Interventions in the Monumental Landscape

Join public historian Renée Ater as she explores how historical interventions can reveal the complex histories embodied in historical monuments. The presentation will consider Ada Pinkston's public performance, "LandMarked"; RE: site Studio's “From Absence to Presence, Commemorative to Enslaved Peoples of Southern Maryland” at St. Mary’s College of Southern Maryland; and the Haus of Glitter's reimagined world in The Historical Fantasy of Esek Hopkins at the Esek Hopkins House in Providence. Her talk considers how performance, built environments, and other world imagining offers new ways of thinking about the monumental landscape.

Time: 10:30 BST
