The Story of the British Oak
Suffolk Gardens Trust ask us to consider the British Oak. Oak trees are integral to the British countryside and valued as our most important tree. This lecture tells the story of our oak, its crucial contribution to the landscape, its rich cultural and historical heritage, and its value to wildlife. Jim Paine has run Walnut Tree Garden Nursery, Norfolk since 1988. He previously worked at the Plant Breeding Institute in Cambridge and for the International Union for the Conservation of Nature where he developed and managed the Asia Pacific section of the World Protected Area Database for inclusion in the UN list of national parks and nature reserves.
