Silent Earth: Saving our Insects
Dave Goulson's talk at Oxford Botanic Garden will explore the world of insects, showcasing how vital, fascinating and weirdly wonderful they are. He'll explore their role as food, pollinators and pest controllers, whilst arguing why we should be so deeply concered about their rapid decline. Dave will explain the many causes of insect decline, and then turn to the solutions of this crisis. These include fundamentally changing the way we grow food, by rewilding some areas, and by turning our gardens and urban greenspaces into oases for life. Dave Goulson is a Professor of Biology at the University of Sussex, specialising in bee ecology. Time: 19:00 GMT
