Rosemary Verey: her contribution & legacy to C20th gardening

Rosemary Verey: her contribution & legacy to C20th gardening

Welcome Margie Hoffnung, with Plant Heritage, who will speak about the well-known plantswoman, Rosemary Verey, whose many achievements included the design of her own garden at Barnsley House, near Cirencester. After working at Westonbirt Arboretum, Margie undertook a horticultural degree at Writtle College which included a placement with Rosemary, with whom she continued to work for over a decade until Rosemary’s death. She also spent some years at Highgrove as both gardener and garden guide for HRH The Prince of Wales. Margie subsequently completed a Masters in the Conservation of Historic Gardens & Cultural Landscapes at Bath and since 2013 has worked for the Garden History Society (now the Gardens Trust) as their Conservation Officer.
