Harriet Tubman: The Ultimate Outdoorswoman

Harriet Tubman: The Ultimate Outdoorswoman

NYBG host an event about a young enslaved girl, Harriet Tubman in the swampy wetlands and upland forests of Dorchester County, Maryland. Harriet learned to navigate different ecosystems, mimic the sounds of birds, trap animals, and utilize plants for medicine and food. Maryland Park Ranger Angela Crenshaw reveals how Tubman, whom she calls β€œthe ultimate outdoorswoman,” gained the expert naturalist skills that later helped her guide more than 70 enslaved people to freedom through the Underground Railroad.

Time: 16:00 BST or 11:00 EDT (Eastern Daylight Time)
