Luis Vallejo: The Wind Among the Leaves
Luis Vallejo's new book The Wind among the Leaves is a portrait of one of the most outstanding collections of bonsais in Europe, and of the collector himself through his collection. As well as being an internationally renowned landscape designer, Luis Vallejo is also the curator and director of the Museo del Bonsái in Alcobendas, which houses his collection, and formerly created and curated the bonsai collection of the Real Jardín Botánico in Madrid. In 2008 he received the Order of the Rising Sun conferred by the Emperor of Japan, the highest distinction awarded to foreign citizens for their dissemination and promotion of Japanese culture in other countries. In this Garden Museum talk, Luis will discuss his lifelong passion for bonsai and give insight into some of his most important projects, including the Hotel Royal Mansour Marrakech and estates in Spain, focussing on the cultural and historical background of the locations, with special attention to the use of water and traditional local irrigation systems. In person and online.
