Unforgettable Gardens - Two Mughal Paradise Gardens by Ratish Nanda
Two Mughal Paradise Gardens by Ratish Nanda, hosted by @thegardenstrust This lecture will explore two garden restorations by the Aga Khan Trust for Culture: one is Humayun’s Tomb, in India’s Delhi (restored 1999 - 2003), a project which revitalised the gardens, pathways, fountains and water channels of the chahâr-bâgh, or four-part paradise garden. The second garden is the Baghe Babur (2002-07), in Kabul, Afghanistan, a terraced and walled open space containing the tomb of the 16th century emperor Babur, founder of the Mughal dynasty. Both gardens are World Heritage Sites, and, for both projects, the late M. Shaheer was the landscape architect.
