Wildflower meadows

Wildflower meadows

Changes in post war farming have led to the widespread loss of habitat and changes in habitat quality. Wildness is in short supply in lowland England. So perhaps it is not surprising that the notion of letting nature take back control has captured the imagination of so many and has energised debates about the future of conservation.
Steve Aylward will act as a guide through several of Suffolk Wildlife Trust’s beautiful wildflower meadows, highlighting the species you can see on each and providing an insight into how they have evolved over the years. Following this exciting exploration, Steve will share his own experiences of turning his own grass lawns into wildflower ‘meadows’ and discuss the rich insect life they support.Devoted to wildlife and conservation, Steve has worked for Suffolk Wildlife Trust for many years and is now head of property & projects for the Trust. Time: 19:00 GMT
