LCGD Summer Info Burst with Luke Arend

LCGD Summer Info Burst with Luke Arend who trained in horticulture at Durham College and then in design at the London College of Garden Design where he graduated with distinction in 2019.
In January 2020 he won the student award at the Society for Garden Designers annual awards for his final student project, and was a finalist for a second category.
Luke was brought up in rural Essex with its beautiful undulating chalk lowlands which he adores. He was inspired into a love of gardens by his mother, and art & design by his artist father. He previously worked in humanitarian aid work in conflict areas in Africa and Asia as a public health specialist with his clinician wife for 13 years. These experiences of war have profoundly impacted him on the importance of a secure ‘home’ and haven, of which gardens epitomise.
