Plants, Farms, Climate and the Biodiversity Crisis

Plants, Farms, Climate and the Biodiversity Crisis

The world’s food supply is under threat from both climate change and the biodiversity crisis. This, in turn, puts farms globally at risk from failed harvests, poor pollination, pest attacks, and new diseases. What part can natural plant areas play in mitigating these problems?
This talk will explore the potential for plant diversity and natural habitat on farms – especially in the world’s poorest regions – to support the ecosystems that underpin food production, and consider which plants provide the biggest benefits. One of several climate focused SLBI events to tie in with COP26, by Dr Sarah E J Arnold FHEA, Senior Lecturer – Insect Behaviour and Ecology.

Time: 19:00 BST
