Crawick Multiverse — a visual talk through a unique universe
On a Scottish hillside, a former mining site has been transformed into a multiverse landscape – this talk explores its galaxies, mysteries and origins.
Crawick Multiverse is a land art installation nestled in the rolling hills of Upper Nithsdale in Dumfries and Galloway. Designed by Charles Jencks, a renowned cultural theorist, landscape designer, architectural historian, and co-founder of the Maggie’s cancer care centres, this major land restoration project has transformed a former open cast coal mine into a spectacular art-land and public amenity. In this illustrated talk, a member of the Crawick Trust will present features of the site, discuss its history and introduce us to designer Charles Jencks—whose Garden of Cosmic Speculation is a landscape masterpiece.
