Growing For Change Sessions: Measuring biodiversity +Bio Blitz a garden
Biodiversity is all the different kinds of life you'll find in one area - the variety of animals, plants, fungi, and even microorganisms like bacteria that make up our natural world! Come learn at this Capital Growth event from Ellen Bidulka, Energy Garden’s Biodiversity Lead about how this organisation has put together a habitat-based method using Natural England’s Biodiversity Metric 4.0 (Small Sites Version) and a species-based plant survey. All relevant training will be delivered during the session you can work through a biodiversity survey together at Energy Garden's Brondesbury Park station garden.
And Ellen will also teach how to bioblitz a garden. In this case, we recording the plants, animals, and fungi that we can find at the Energy Garden using the free to use Citizen Science apps iNaturalist and Seek by iNaturalist. There will also be a digital microscope available to use to look at some plants and animals up close. This is a great opportunity to explore and learn about biodiversity in London.
