International Mountain Day 2022 - Women Move Mountains
Women play a key role in the stewardship, conservation, economic development, and management of mountains including the keeping and sharing of traditional knowledge. International Mountain Day 2022 focuses on the need to empower farmers, artisans, entrepreneurs, community leaders, mothers, mountain women, and girls so that they can more effectively participate in decision-making and resource management.
The United Nations General Assembly also declared the year 2022 as the International Year of Sustainable Mountain Development to increase awareness of the importance of sustainable mountain development and the conservation and sustainable use of mountain ecosystems.
This year for IMD, Canadian Mountain Network presnts an event to share women's stories about the mountains where they live, work and care for the land and their families.
