This panel will explore the various deviations from Frederick Law Olmsted as the central figure of the beginning of landscape architecture. The speakers for this panel include:
Sara Zewde (Harvard GSD/ Studio Zewde) who will discuss her research and current course at Harvard GSD on Frederick Law Olmsted’s southern diaries and his extensive travels in the antebellum South.
Dr. Doug Williams (UI) who will explore the contributions of David Williston and his research intersections with his community-based work in Chicago.
Moderator: Kene Okigbo is an emerging professional based in Omaha, NE and a 2020 ASLA Community Service Award recipient.
The Speaker Series is one of many efforts by the Black Landscape Architect’s Network to raise funds that support Black-identifying students pursuing landscape architecture as a profession, and to mentor emerging and mid-career professionals and faculty.
