Future Nature + Superbloom Nigel Dunnett

Future Nature + Superbloom Nigel Dunnett

Professor Nigel Dunnett is one of the world’s leading voices in naturalistic planting design based at the highly influential Department of Landscape Architecture at University of Sheffield.
In this 2021 talk, Nigel discusses two concepts fundamental to the way he designs for public urban space: Future Nature + Superbloom. Each is about capturing the drama, beauty and spontaneity of the wild, and translating it into a designed version for people in city landscapes.
His overarching vision is to make "new" nature - ecologically adapted to the disturbed urban environment and the rapidly changing climate. Nigel walks us through a wide range of his public projects (as well as his own home garden) to reveal how his design process can help us create low-input, high-impact gardens and landscapes. The talk is followed by an extended Q&A and insightful discussion.
