The Mysteries of Dragonflies
Cork Nature Network marks World Wetlands Day with an online talk about dragonflies and the important roles dragonflies play in wetland ecosystems. Dragonflies are one of the the most enigmatic group of insects on earth. The largest flier in the insect skies, they actually spend most of their lives as aquatic insects. The Irish dragonfly fauna is no less cryptic, as while there are less species present here than in other countries there are species here that are oddly absent from our nearest neighbours.
John O'Sullivan will uncover the mysteries of dragonfly life, as well as describing why they are a fundamental cog in many of our ecosystems.
